National Night Out is a nationwide community building campaign that promotes police-community relations. On Tuesday, August 1st, 6-8pm, Charlottesville hosted its first National Night Out Event at Tonsler and Washington Parks. This national program has brought together millions of community members and police around the country to foster a sense of community, help make our neighborhoods safer places, and enhance the relationship between neighborhoods and law enforcement.
At National Night Out, neighbors enjoyed food from Mission BBQ (Washington Park) and Papa Johns (Tonsler Park), bounce houses, cotton candy, sno cones, great music, and give-aways. We had activities for folks young and old, an opportunity to meet with your local officers, and visits from the local fire department and local government officials.
Thank you to all the families and neighbors who joined in this fun evening where we celebrated our community and continued to make Charlottesville the best place to live!
