Outreach

The Foundation’s communications and outreach program supports a vision where the community and police work together to solve problems by providing information on police initiatives and creating varied opportunities for community involvement with police.

Gun Violence Stakeholder’s Meeting. The Foundation hosted a meeting on March 17, 2009, that brought together 40 representatives of local, federal and state criminal justice agencies as well as churches and neighborhood associations, to discuss a local gun violence project. The meeting resulted in valuable feedback from diverse community viewpoints, as well as press coverage and identification of potential funding sources.

Cops4Kids Day. In collaboration with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Charlottesville, the Foundation hosted on June 13, 2009 a picnic and fun day for kids, their mentors, and police officers.  See details and photos here.
